Bio

Born in 1961, I have been an artist from the time I could hold a pencil.  I have my first sketch pad from my third year.Raised in upstate NYS, I had the best pair of parents a guy could want.  They were very nuturing, and urged me down my creative path (they knew I was headed somewhere with it all)

In high school I spent as much time as possible in the Art room, and by the time I graduated, had won awards.

I earned my bachelors, majored in painting.  Which I stopped doing when I went out on my own.  I then picked up traditonal quilting.  My first quilt was my first paid quilting job. I did this for a while, then started collecting vintage/antique quilts.  Many needed repair, and this was where I learned my restoration skills.  I've restored quilts as old as 200 years, but I was becoming dissatisfied with it all, traditional quilts holding no real challenge.  I found out about "art quilts", and was given the opportunity to start exploring my creativity.  My quilts had become my paintings.  I explore all potential avenues, frequently going where no one else has gone. I actually use oil paintings in my work.

Since this occured, I have been collected in the US and internationally.  I am a teacher (quilting techniques), a lecturer on art quilts and vintage quilts., verbal appraisals, commissions, and all around good guy.  I have a large collection of vintage quilts that I use for lectures and hands on quilt experiences.
