WINSTED – The American Mural Project offers LoveWorks @AMP, a new virtual art program that is part of a monthly series, for children ages 7-11.

During the four-week series, participants will use a bespoke art kit to create beautiful Valentine’s Day and thank you notes to give to the people in their lives whose work they want to celebrate: family members, teachers, community members, etc. . Children will use collage, printmaking, watercolor, and mixed media drawing to create their gratitude-filled cards.

LoveWorks @AMP is led by Meredith Arcari, one of AMP’s professional teaching artists. “Painter, photographer, gardener and educator, Meredith enjoys seeing exhibitions, exhibiting her own work, traveling for inspiration, immersing herself in nature, creating classes for her students and running her own business,” according to a statement. . “Growing up in Hartford sparked her love for exploring different regions and shaped everything she does. Meredith has worked at Hartford Performs, Green Street Art Center, Charter Oak Cultural Center, and West Hartford Art League, and holds a Connecticut Art Teacher Certification and Master Gardener certification.

The program meets virtually on Mondays from February 1 to 22 at 4 p.m. Registration is limited to 10 participants. The fee for the program is $ 60, plus a kit fee of $ 15. Kits can be shipped to US addresses. Light adult supervision may be necessary for young children. For more information or to register by January 18, visit americanmuralproject.org/virtual-programs

“AMP’s virtual programs are designed to engage children far beyond the confines of the screen in front of them: with the artist teacher, the other participants, their creative imaginations and the world around them,” said Michelle. Begley, Director of Education Programs.
