The Chippewa Valley is teeming with talented artists, young and old, who will have a unique opportunity to showcase their art later this year.

The Wisconsin Regional Art Program will bring the Chippewa Valley Regional portion of their competition to Chippewa Falls for the first time in October. From October 13 to November 18, the Heyde Center for the Arts will host the WRAP exhibition – an exciting collaboration between WRAP, the Heyde Center and the Valley Art Association.

WRAP encourages non-professional, student, and emerging artists to create and exhibit their work throughout Wisconsin. It is for people who have a serious passion for art and who create art simply out of pure love for craftsmanship.

Each year, the organization organizes regional exhibitions, where artists can include their work in competition.

A judge analyzes each piece and chooses which performers will advance to the national portion of the competition for a chance to win a cash prize.

VAA board member Beth Creekmore said the goal is to introduce young artists to the Chippewa Valley art scene and foster the next generation of talent in the region.

“We hope this event will help people embrace the younger generation of artists in the area because we have so much talent in the Chippewa Valley,” Creekmore said. “We hope this will be an event that we organize every year, so that young artists have an outlet to show their work and learn about the art world.”

The Valley Art Association will host an exhibition alongside WRAP at the Heyde Center, leading to a flagship event for Chippewa Valley artists in the latter part of 2022. Although the event is still in the planning stages, submissions will be accepted from August, with the deadline for entries in September. A public reception including an opportunity to meet the artists, accompanied by music and a silent auction, will take place on Saturday, November 5 at the Heyde Center.
