Earl Warren Reflection Art Program 2021
The Earl Warren Middle School Parent-Teacher-Student Association (PTSA) hosted their annual 2021 Reflective Art Program on October 7. The theme for this year was “I will change the world from here. . . The students were invited to reflect on the theme and create a work of art.
Students can compete in six categories: visual arts, photography, literature, musical composition, film production and dance choreography. Earl Warren art teacher Tami Austin integrates the program into her art and English classes. This gives his students a chance to harness their critical thinking skills and receive positive recognition.
The judges, who were community members specializing in these categories, rated the students on how the piece relates to the theme based on the work itself and the artist’s statement. Visual arts judge Summer Wyman of Summer Wyman Fine arts was impressed that each student’s interpretation of the theme had meaning, purpose and integrity. Student artwork was displayed in “The Cove” for all students and staff to view.
Earl Warren’s award-winning students will advance to the next level, the North Coast Council of PTAs, which covers all PTAs from Carmel Valley to Carlsbad.
Each year, students are invited to submit theme ideas for the annual Reflections Art program which will inspire young artists to create original works. Thematic entries can be submitted on capta.org before November 1, 2021.
