GHENT – The Columbia County School of Art is located at a quiet but well-trafficked three-corner intersection of County Roads 21 and 21C and Harlemville Rd in the city of Ghent, near the center of Columbia County. Built in 1842 as a one-room schoolhouse, the Harlemville School served for decades as a place to learn reading, writing, and arithmetic.
Today, it is still a “school house” dedicated to learning, but not just for young people. It was transformed into the Art School of Columbia County and was founded 12 years ago as the ASCC. a non-profit arts organization whose mission is to help people of all ages learn to explore their inner artist.
